Homemade Wheat Bread

I have been following a blog-- www.moneysavingmom.com for some time now. I have been able to save between $60.00 to $100.00 a week on groceries by just following her tips. She is a Christian mom who is actually saving to pay cash for her house. They have saved more than 1/2 their goal. Wow! She posted a great homemade bread recipe last week. I tried it tonight and it was easy and tasted great! If you have a bread machine--give it a try!

Homemade Wheat Bread
1 c warm water
1 Tbsp milk
2 Tbsp oil
4 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
2 c whole wheat flour
1 c all purpose flour
2 tsp dry yeast (I used the rapid rise kind)

Put all ingredients in the bread machine and set it for the dough cycle. When it is done--take it out and shape it into a loaf. Put it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise in warm place for 20-45 minutes until doubled in size. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees--until golden brown.

Homecoming 2009

Austin is a junior in high school now. Yesterday, was Homecoming. Take a look at him and the mum for his friend, Katie! Although the game was rained out -- they got to go to Chili's and to the movies with his best friend, Jon, and his date.

Summer 2009

It has been a long time since I posted to my blog. We've had a great summer. In June, we headed to Arkansas to see my parents. They had a garden and Makennah loved picking lettuce and strawberries. Most of the strawberries were eaten before making it back inside! In August, we went to Destin, Florida, with Aaron's brother, Alex and his sweet family. Here's a few pictures from our summer.

Faith, Hope, and Lullabies

There is a company that has created some lullaby CDs. It is called Faith, Hope, and Lullabies. Check out a few of the songs. The songs are beautiful Christian lullabies.

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter Weekend. Pa and Mamaw came on Saturday to see Hannah's volleyball game and to see Makennah hunt eggs. Austin went to Six Flags with his best buds--Jon and Bobby to see Skillet in concert even though he had his wisdom teeth out on Thursday. The rest of us went with Pa and Mamaw to eat with Jeff, my brother, and his family. Sunday we spent the afternoon at Grandma Marta and Tommy Pa's house. We enjoyed our visit with them and had a very tasty lunch. Here are a few pictures that Pa took on Saturday. Makennah wore Hannah's Easter dress that she wore when she was one. Makennah looked so cute in it and Hannah was proud that Makennah was wearing her dress! Happy Easter!
